**Company Overview**

Bell Curves (www.bellcurves.com) is seeking engaging, reliable teachers for test\-prep courses across the **ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, SAT, and Regents exams**, both in\-person and online. In\-person programs run during the school week and Saturdays, with schedules ranging from morning to late afternoon, across all five NYC boroughs. We're also expanding our online course offerings and are looking for tutors comfortable teaching test\-prep content in a virtual classroom setting.

Bell Curves is an educational services company committed to expanding access to high\-quality, affordable education through partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and community\-based organizations.

Bell Curves teachers are provided paid training before they teach their first course. Starting pay is **$35\-$40 per hour**, based on experience and performance during training. Experienced test\-preparation teachers qualify for a starting rate of $45\-$50 per hour.

**Qualifications and Skills**

No formal teaching experience is required. We're looking for people who either have experience teaching OR have strong knowledge of one or more of our exams (ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, SAT, Regents), and who bring the following:
\- A great personality and genuine enjoyment of working with students and families
\- The ability to manage a classroom and keep students engaged
\- Comfort handling different personalities and navigating conflict calmly and professionally
\- Strong, clear communication skills
\- A commitment to consistent, reliable availability
\- Dedication to providing an excellent experience for students and families
\- For online roles: comfortable delivering instruction and managing student engagement in a virtual classroom

**Important Fit Criteria**

We will not proceed with candidates who:
\- Cannot commit to their selected format (in\-person or online) once assigned
\- Cannot provide consistent, reliable hours of availability
\- Do not meet screening requirements (education, location/tech setup, availability)
\- Are unable to commit to scheduled class times once assigned

This role requires reliability and follow\-through above all.

**Responsibilities**
\- Deliver Bell Curves test\-preparation content (ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, SAT, or Regents) to K\-12 students (6\-25 students per class, in\-person or online)
\- Adapt lessons to diverse learners and varying schedules
\- Manage the classroom and maintain a positive, focused learning environment
\- Reliably adhere to confirmed program schedules and consistent availability
\- Communicate with the Bell Curves office in a timely manner
\- For online roles: maintain a stable, professional virtual teaching environment (reliable internet, camera, quiet space)

**NOTE:** We have in\-person teaching opportunities available in all boroughs, and online teaching opportunities available regardless of location.
