**About the Role:**

As an Associate Engineer, you will provide entry\-level engineering and technical expertise on civil engineering design projects for electrical substations and transmission line right\-of\-way projects. This position prepares guidance for site layout, grading design, retaining wall design, stormwater analysis, permitting, containment structure design, survey coordination, and civil construction support.

**What You Will Be Doing:**

* Build design models using the Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and stormwater analysis programs
* Conduct transmission right\-of\-way access improvement design including culvert sizing, stormwater drainage analysis, stabilization specification, construction support, and inspection
* Develop civil construction specifications
* Conduct engineering related studies
* Learn and understand design criteria
* Evaluate and provide commentary on design alternatives
* Compose work packages and release letters
* Effectively manage multiple tasks for multiple projects
**What You Bring:**

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering **(required)**
* EI/EIT certification **(preferred)**
* 1\+ years of related civil engineering experience in the electric utility industry **(preferred)**
* Experience using Civil 3D and other related software **(preferred)**
* Experience with design codes and standards
* Understanding of basic practices for researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations
* Ability to prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
* Ability to work in a safe manner and always obey safety regulations
* Ability to be a self\-starter and thrive in an unstructured, varied, and deadline\-driven work environment
* Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation skills)
* Demonstrated verbal and technical writing skills
* Ability to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
