Are you a technologist Backend Developer with strong Java skills looking to progress your career, working with a modern cloud based infrastructure and a range of technology?

You could be joining a hugely successful and growing commodities trading firm that specialise in trading silver and gold.

As a Backend Developer you’ll collaborate with the Lead Engineer on the whiskey trading platform as the company looks to scale the platform and introduce new features. There’s an emphasis on code quality; designing and developing highly complex web based trading platforms working across the full development lifecycle.

The technology stack includes Java 17, Kotlin, Spring Boot and AWS amongst others; you’ll be encouraged to expand your skillset using the latest technologies and choosing the best tool for the job in a friendly Agile team environment.

Location: London/Bangalore, hybrid working applies with 3 days in the office

As a Senior Engineer At Connecting Deals, You Will

• Demonstrate practical experience of engineering best practices, while being obsessed with continuous improvement.
• Have deep technical knowledge of two or more technologies and is curious to learn other parts of the stack.
• Have experience delivering software/technology projects leveraging Agile methodologies.
• Have personally made valuable contributions to products, solutions and teams and can articulate the value to customers.
• Have played a role in the delivery of critical business applications and ideally customer facing applications.
• Have the ability to communicate complex ideas to non-experts with eloquence and confidence.
• Have an awareness and understanding of new technologies being used in finance and other industries and loves to experiment. Have a passion for being part of the engineering team that is forming the future.
  

Skills & Expertise

You will have experience working with the following Methodologies/Technologies;

Required Skills

• Java Development – Expertise in Java 11, 17 and above.
• Spring Boot – Proficiency with the Spring Boot framework.
• Cloud Services – Deep understanding of deploying enterprise level software into any public cloud, preferably AWS.
• Architecture Patterns – Experience implementing microservices, event-driven, CQRS and cloud-native architectures.
• CI/CD – Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, particularly within the AWS ecosystem.
• Database Management – Proficiency in both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Message Brokers – Experience with Kafka.
• Testing – Ability to write various types of tests including unit, component, integration, end-to-end, and performance tests.
• Java Streaming – Core understanding of Java streaming and AWS integration.
• Infrastructure as Code – Experience with CloudFormation or similar tools for infrastructure management.
• Large-Scale Systems Design – Experience with designing large-scale systems.
• Distributed Systems Troubleshooting – Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems.
• Security Best Practices – Strong knowledge of security best practices, including the use of IAM Roles, KMS, etc.
  

We’d Also Like To See

• Proficiency with Gitlab for CI/CD processes.
• Behaviour Driven Design – Experience writing automation test cases in Cucumber using Behaviour Driven Design (BDD).
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional level certification required.
