If you, like me, have a soft spot for the ancient city of Xi’an, then you absolutely have to make a trip here!
On my recent five-day adventure, I walked the city from dawn to dusk, chasing moments that, in my eyes, capture the true beauty of this thirteen-dynasty capital — both in the brightness of day and the magic of night.

At the southeast corner of the city wall, just as the sun was setting, the rooftops of two watchtowers curved together in a breathtaking arc. There’s actually a fascinating historical story behind why part of this wall bends — one I’d love to share with you someday.

The Daci’en Temple Ruins Park — one of the few places where you can capture the Buddha statue and the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda in the same frame. Just search for “如来佛” (Tathagata Buddha) on your map, and you’ll find the exact spot.

The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda at night, with the Qinling Mountains rising faintly in the background — and if you look closely, you can even spot snow on the peaks.

Xi’an’s central axis — from the Bell Tower to Yongning Gate to the TV Tower — lit up in brilliant lights, with streams of cars weaving through, telling the ongoing story of this city’s rich history and thriving modern life.

The south square of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda — step back a little and use a telephoto lens to frame both the pagoda and the bronze statue of Monk Xuanzang together.

Cherry blossoms at Zhiyuan Hotel — the cherry flower trees here are enormous, with blooms at their peak in late March.
